A MUNICIPALITY LEGACY FOR YOU

Limpias has an area of 10.1 km² and lies at an altitude of 20 metres above sea level. Its location between two of the main cities in the north of Spain makes access very easy.

From Santander or Bilbao, access is via the A-8 motorway, taking exit 173 towards Burgos-Logroño for 1 km, until reaching the turn-off for Limpias.

Santander Airport is 43.5 km away, a 33-minute drive via the S-10 and A-8. Meanwhile, Bilbao Airport is 70.2 km away, a 50-minute drive via the A-8.

Very well-connected by various forms of public transport. From Santander, one may travel directly by train with FEVE and by bus with ALSA, with a couple of stops along the way, at Laredo and Colindres.

LIMPIAS & SEÑA

Limpias is an ancient fishing village that once served as a port for Castile. It is nestled between green hills and located on one of the banks of the so-called Limpias estuary, which forms part of the mouth of the Asón River.

The council of Limpias encompasses the town of Limpias itself and the outlying village of Seña. Among its main districts are the neighbourhoods of Espina, El Rivero, Rucoba, La Dehesa, Helguero, and Collado.

Seña, located 7 km from Limpias, serves as a hub for other municipalities, such as Laredo and Liendo... The village of Seña offers a vast viewpoint from which Laredo, Colindres, Santoña, Argoños, as well as the Candiano Peak, the Limpias estuary, and many other unique landscapes of eastern Cantabria can be seen.

Seña is home to numerous heritage sites, such as two disc-shaped stelae preserved in the Museum of Prehistory in Santander and the oldest megalithic monument in Cantabria, the Menhir of Yelso de Hayas. Also noteworthy is the presence of Hoyo Molino Cave and several civil and religious structures of significant importance.
